Thing-a-Week 17
A funny thing happens when you stop drawing every day: you forget how to see. Or rather, you forget how to see, and translate what your eyes perceive as 3D shapes into 2D forms on canvas. Even once I set aside several hours to draw this week, when moved my pencil across the page, things just weren’t coming out right. Oh well. Even the Power Rangers temporarily lost their powers over the years, and they always got them back in time to save the day. In the meantime, here’s a poorly photographed sketchbook page of a couple of Ukrainians. They were featured in this month’s National Geographic article on Crimea. Good read. Check it out.
On the bright side, I’m now fully, completely, totally finished my degree. Sure, I don’t have all my final marks in, nor do I have that token slip of paper, but for all intents and purposes, I’m now a certified (and completely unemployed) Bachelor of Arts. From here on out, no more excuses about how essays have been causing my artistic skills to atrophy. Incidentally, anybody wanna give me a job?
For once, I’ve beaten Caitlin to the punch, but you should still go check out her blog for her half of this weekly project that’s now in full swing.
