Thing-a-Week 32: Stray Monsters

After a six-month break, I finally got the party back together in the D&D campaign I’m GMing. When you’re away from a story for that long, it takes a while to refresh and catch up, so this week has been full of monster machinations. Most of my time was spent campaign building, but I’ve made sure to keep drawing every day — a streak I haven’t broken since before Art Walk. So, my Thing-a-Week quickly transformed into Goblin-a-Day…
Perhaps inspired by Caitlin’s post last week, I took another shot at digital painting today. Someone recommended a program called MyPaint, an lightweight, open-source art program focused entirely on art production, rather than image editing. It’s not nearly as bulky as Photoshop and doesn’t have quite as much range as Painter, but it’s a capable program well worth a try. Besides, any decent artist knows that it’s not the tools that count, right?
I posted this piece just over a year ago as a work-in-progress, and, well, it still is. But after a year of stagnation, I made a lot more progress on it today. Hopefully I’ll have something more complete very soon.
