Thing-a-Week 46: Austerity-Bot

Have you been to The Charrette? It’s a blog run by Mike Otto and Scott Lilwall, a couple of Edmontonians and very good friends of mine, all about our city’s municipal design and planning. A niche market, for sure, but if you’re the type who spends hours toiling away at your virtual ledgers in Sim City and have an opinion on Edmonton’s arena project, public transit, neighbourhood revitalization, or any number of civic topics, The Charrette is Edmonton’s number one source.
Last week, Mike made a post about the city’s proposed cuts for the upcoming annual budget, and asked me to illustrate it. The concept was that the city has employed an angry, heartless robot to boil down all of Edmonton’s luxuries in favour of total austerity. Thus was born Austerity-Bot. You can see him here, but to get the full effect, go read the post itself and see what sorts of crazy jargon he’s spewing today!
As an added bonus, here’s a whole pile of doodles I’ve been working on over the past week.
